about

Building the autonomous engineer.

We’re a small team obsessed with one idea: software should be able to write, test, and ship itself — with a human on review, not the keyboard.

./story

From a hackday script to a runtime teams trust.

Cipher started in 2023 as a weekend experiment that refused to just autocomplete. It read the repo. It made a plan. It ran the tests and fixed what broke. That gap — between a model that guesses and an agent that follows through — became the whole company.

Today Cipher opens thousands of pull requests a day for teams from two-person startups to public companies, on one belief: the best tooling disappears into work that simply gets shipped.

What we believe.

Do the work

Suggestions are cheap. We build an agent that finishes the task and shows a clean diff for it.

// ship_it()

Trust is the product

Sandboxing, privacy, and legible plans aren’t features. They’re the ground everything stands on.

// verify()

Stay reviewable

No black boxes. Every action is a command you can read and a patch you can revert.
