Our story

Land is in our blood

Three generations of ranchers and farmers turned brokers — we sell the kind of country we grew up on, and we treat every parcel like our own.

Since 1987

A brokerage built in the barn, not the boardroom

Homestead started when Earl Coleman, a third-generation Montana cattleman, kept getting calls from neighbors asking him to help sell their places. He knew the land, the water, and the people — and word spread fast that he'd shoot straight with both buyers and sellers.

Nearly four decades later, we've grown into a regional team of land brokers, but the approach hasn't changed. We still walk every fence line, read every water decree, and tell you the truth about carrying capacity and soil. We've helped families close on more than 640,000 acres — and we've never sold a parcel we wouldn't run cattle on ourselves.

Rural expertise

What sets our brokers apart

Selling rural land takes more than a lockbox and a sign. It takes people who understand the dirt.

Water-rights savvy

Decreed rights, well permits, ditch shares, and irrigation districts — we read the paperwork and explain what actually conveys, so there are no surprises at closing.

Ag & grazing knowledge

We assess soil productivity, AUMs, hay yields, and crop history, giving buyers a realistic picture of what a property can produce before they ever make an offer.

Straight-shooting service

No pressure, no hype. We'd rather lose a sale than put you on the wrong ground. That honesty is why most of our business comes from referrals and repeat clients.
