Compassion first
We lead with empathy and treat every person we serve with the respect and dignity they deserve.
Helping Hands started in 2009 when a handful of friends loaded a borrowed truck with food and supplies and drove into a flood-hit valley. What they saw — neighbors sharing what little they had — convinced them that real change is built hand to hand, community by community.
That first relief run grew into a foundation. We dug our first well in 2011, opened our first learning center in 2014, and have since reached more than 240,000 people across 38 communities — always working alongside local leaders, never around them.
We are still guided by the same simple idea: show up, listen first, and stay until families can stand on their own.
We exist to meet urgent needs today and build the foundations that let communities thrive tomorrow. These values keep us grounded while we do it.
We lead with empathy and treat every person we serve with the respect and dignity they deserve.
We publish our finances openly so donors can see exactly where every dollar goes.
Communities lead the work. We listen first and build solutions that families truly own.
We move beyond relief to root causes, so progress holds long after a project ends.
When disaster strikes, we move fast — getting help to families within hours, not weeks.
We measure our impact honestly and hold ourselves to the standards our donors expect.
A small, dedicated staff working alongside hundreds of community partners and volunteers.
Led the first relief run in 2009 and has guided the mission ever since.
Coordinates water, food, and shelter projects across our regions.
Builds learning centers and trains local teachers in every community.
Makes sure every supporter feels the impact of their generosity.
Every community is different, but our way of working stays the same: arrive with humility, build with locals, and stay accountable for results.
We start by asking families what they need most, rather than assuming we know.
Local leaders co-design and help run every project, so it belongs to them.
We track outcomes openly and share the results with every donor who made them possible.
Whether you give, volunteer, or spread the word, there is a place for you in the Helping Hands family.
