Gavel was founded in 1994 above a Cornmarket Street solicitor's office with a single belief: that property changes hands best in the open, where the price is set by genuine demand and the deal is binding the moment the gavel falls. No gazumping, no chains collapsing at the last minute — just transparency for buyers and certainty for sellers.
Today we run 28 sales a year across the country, combining a packed auction room with a live online platform that lets bidders join from anywhere in the world. Every lot is fully catalogued, every legal pack is published in advance, and every member of our team is regulated and accountable. The principle hasn't changed in thirty years.
