Our Story
From one backpack to 10,000 happy travelers
In 2011, our founder Mara Lindqvist quit her corporate job, sold her car and spent a year crossing four continents on a shoestring. What she discovered wasn't just incredible places — it was how much smoother, richer and safer travel could be when someone who'd actually been there did the planning.
She came home and started Wanderlux from a tiny Lisbon apartment, hand-building trips for friends-of-friends. Word spread fast. Fifteen years later we're a team of 40+ travel designers, local guides and round-the-clock support specialists across three continents — but the obsession is exactly the same: trips that feel like they were made just for you, because they were.
We still personally inspect every hotel, vet every guide and answer the phone at 3am when a flight gets delayed. That's not a policy. It's just who we are.
