The Cellar story

Independent wine merchants since 2009 β€” built on relationships with the growers, distillers and estates behind every bottle we sell.

Our beginning

It started with a single rack and a love of the craft

Cellar began in 2009 as a small shop with one wall of wooden racks and a founder who'd rather talk vintages than sell them. We were tired of warehouse pricing and bottles that had seen too much heat. We wanted somewhere you could trust that what you opened tasted the way the maker intended.

Fifteen years later, that hasn't changed. We're still independent, still tasting every label before it earns a place on our shelf, and still happiest matching a customer with a bottle they'll remember. The difference is the scale β€” and a temperature-controlled cellar to match.

How we source

Bought direct, from people we know

We buy as much as we can directly from growers and distillers β€” visiting harvests in Bordeaux and Burgundy, walking the vineyards of Provence, and standing in the still houses of the Scottish Highlands. Those relationships mean fairer prices, honest provenance, and bottles you simply can't find on a supermarket shelf.

Everything is shipped and held in climate-controlled conditions, then dispatched with age verification and a signature required on delivery. From the estate to your door, the chain stays unbroken.

What we stand for

The values behind every bottle

Principles we won't compromise, however much the cellar grows.

Curation over volume

We'd rather offer one great bottle than ten forgettable ones. If our sommeliers wouldn't pour it at their own table, it doesn't make the shelf.

Honest provenance

Real relationships with real producers. We know where each bottle came from, how it was made, and how it's been stored every step of the way.

Drink better, waste less

We champion sustainable estates, recyclable packaging and a wine club built around finishing what you open. Quality, enjoyed responsibly.
